About The Position

This role is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for the department. Key responsibilities include monitoring and reconciling general ledger accounts, supporting external audits, managing the fixed asset register, preparing journal entries, and assisting with accounts payable and receivable. The position also ensures compliance with financial regulations and internal controls, collaborates with the finance team, and handles ad-hoc accounting tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Detailed oriented and PC proficient
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office applications especially in Excel
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in accounting, cash handling or related position preferably in a health care environment
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Must be able to type 40 wpm and 10-key by touch

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in accounting highly preferred
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the department.
  • Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring their accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Manage the fixed asset register, including recording acquisitions, disposals, and transfers.
  • Calculate and record monthly depreciation expense.
  • Prepare and post accurate journal entries, ensuring proper documentation and supporting schedules.
  • Monitor and reconcile prepaid expenses and record amortization.
  • Assist in processing accounts payable invoices and ensuring timely payment.
  • Provide support for accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, collections, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and internal policies.
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard financial assets.
  • Collaborate with the finance team and other departments to resolve accounting discrepancies and issues.
  • Balance, post and review pharmacy cash payments, accounts receivable and engage with payors on discrepancies.
  • Support other ad-hoc accounting and finance tasks as assigned.
