About The Position

This role is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for the department, including monitoring and reconciling general ledger accounts. The Bookkeeper will also collaborate with external auditors, manage the fixed asset register, prepare journal entries, and assist with accounts payable and receivable. Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal controls is crucial. The position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently and meet deadlines, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. A minimum of one year of experience in accounting, cash handling, or a related position is required, preferably in a healthcare environment. The ability to type 40 WPM and use a 10-key by touch is also necessary. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred. Scheduled hours and work locations are subject to change.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the department.
  • Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring their accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Manage the fixed asset register, including recording acquisitions, disposals, and transfers.
  • Calculate and record monthly depreciation expense.
  • Prepare and post accurate journal entries, ensuring proper documentation and supporting schedules.
  • Monitor and reconcile prepaid expenses and record amortization.
  • Assist in processing accounts payable invoices and ensuring timely payment.
  • Provide support for accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, collections, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and internal policies.
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard financial assets.
  • Collaborate with the finance team and other departments to resolve accounting discrepancies and issues.
  • Balance, post, and review pharmacy cash payments and accounts receivable.
  • Engage with payors on discrepancies.
  • Support other ad-hoc accounting and finance tasks as assigned.
