About The Position

The BOLT (Building Opportunities & Learning Together) Intern Program is Kinder Morgan’s elite summer internship program. This program offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the energy industry while enhancing professional and interpersonal skills. Kinder Morgan is one of North America's largest energy infrastructure companies, operating approximately 78,000 miles of pipelines and 136 terminals. The company is a market leader in Natural Gas Pipelines, Products Pipelines, CO2, and Terminals, with a significant footprint of diversified assets crucial to North American energy infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the FES and Engineering departments, learning the coordinated efforts required between different specialties to manage environmental compliance obligations for major engineering projects.
  • Present a summary of summer learnings to department management, demonstrating acquired knowledge and providing insights on the internship experience.
  • Manage federal and state environmental regulatory compliance for construction, operations, and maintenance activities related to various waste types (non-hazardous, RCRA hazardous, TENORM, Mixed Waste, Universal Waste), including coordinating waste disposal and providing technical guidance.
  • Identify cost-effective and environmentally compliant waste management solutions for pipeline operations and integrity management projects, emphasizing pollution prevention, reclamation, recycling, and disposal.
  • Coordinate support for multiple projects, organizing resources (people, contractors, time) to meet deadlines and achieve results, while fostering positive relationships with colleagues, clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Optimize stormwater and wastewater treatment system utilization to align with pipeline and fuel terminal operations, regulatory requirements, and financial considerations, potentially evaluating new processes and technologies.
