About The Position

The BOLT (Building Opportunities & Learning Together) Intern Program is Kinder Morgan’s elite summer internship program. This position will report to the Technical Services Manager for Division 9. The position is based at our Division Office in Brentwood, Tennessee. As an intern, you will be providing technical support to the operations of Kinder Morgan's natural gas pipelines.

Requirements

  • Working toward a degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or Electrical Engineering, ideally entering Junior or Senior year of college.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office – (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills including technical writing ability.
  • Ability and desire to work in a team environment, self-motivated, and to be able to work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Office environment with occasional field work within compressor station and pipeline right-of-way areas.
  • Overnight travel may occasionally be required.
  • Additional hours may be required to meet the needs of the Division.

Responsibilities

  • Development and review of safety and regulatory compliance tracking and reporting, which may also include technical writing for operating and safety procedures.
  • Analysis of operational data and the development of performance and reliability metrics.
  • Development and implementation of projects to ensure operational reliability and efficiency.
  • Miscellaneous pipeline and compressor engineering calculations and monitoring.
  • Gas Measurement including pipe volume calculations, gas loss calculations, system balance analysis, technology evaluation and support of design specifications.
  • Development of a capstone presentation to summarize activities and learning during BOLT Internship.
