About The Position

Huhtamaki is a key global provider of sustainable packaging solutions, aiming to make all packaging recyclable, reusable, or compostable. They ensure the hygiene and safety of food and drink worldwide. The company is looking for a Boiler EIC/Maint. Supervisor to join their facility in Waterville, ME. This role involves overseeing the boiler room operations and managing a select group of maintenance personnel, reporting to the Maintenance Manager. Requirements

  • Relevant engineering experience (mechanical, power plant, or industrial) for Boiler EIC.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with boiler systems, air systems, safety protocols, and regulatory compliances.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Current 3rd class Maine stationary steam engineers license.
  • BSME or BSMET degree is preferred.
  • 8-10 years of applicable experience in a large industrial manufacturing company.
  • OSHA 30 certified is preferred.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to effectively multitask competing priorities and deliver results.
  • Must have prior experience with project management, plant maintenance, industrial regulatory compliance, budgeting and scheduling, supervision of hourly and salaried personnel.
  • Visual acuity (corrected) to read directions and prints and to inspect machined parts, product to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate machinery for precision work.
  • Physical ability to do work that requires frequent stooping, standing, squatting, bending, crawling, walking, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching and lifting of 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • BSME or BSMET degree is preferred.
  • OSHA 30 certified is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily boiler operations, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Lead a team of operators/technicians, providing guidance and training.
  • Manage maintenance schedules, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate repairs for boiler systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental laws, and company policies for the boiler room.
  • Monitor boiler equipment performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement efficiency measures.
  • Respond to emergencies in the boiler room, taking charge of incident response and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with Industrial Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Manage department labor and materials expenses.
  • Use developed practices and foster new technologies to improve equipment reliability.
  • Directly supervise a designated maintenance crew.
  • Ensure preventative and predictive maintenance practices are used consistently to reduce and control unscheduled downtime and machine failures.
  • Manage capitalized and expensed machine overhauls, including budget generation, project submittal, and cost tracking.
  • Identify future capital opportunities to prevent obsolescence, improve machine output, and enhance operator run ability.
  • Develop and implement training programs to ensure future development of skilled trades.
