About The Position

The tool room person is responsible for the accounting of company tooling and the operation of the tool room and tool storage areas. This role also involves managing bulk oil systems, building maintenance scheduling, equipment inspections, and associated record keeping.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of hand, air and electric tool repairs.
  • An understanding of cost/value relationships when procuring replacement or new tooling.
  • Ability to keep and maintain an inventory of tooling.
  • Ability to schedule calibration and safety check of tools.
  • Communication skills over the telephone.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Background in maintenance, tooling and parts procurement.
  • Must have and know how to use a basic set of hand tools.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly, precisely and logically at all levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with heavy equipment/maintenance is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and perform all five Star contamination control maintenance as assigned.
  • Control inventory of tools.
  • Pull and return tooling for mechanics.
  • Clean, repair or replace tooling as necessary.
  • Check calibration on torque wrenches, multi-meter, photo tach hydraulic gauges, thermistor group, heat guns, and micrometers, battery load testers on semiannual schedule or as needed.
  • Maintain adequate coverall inventory-replace damaged ones-prepare for shipment.
  • Maintain adequate oil and fuel supply, reorder when necessary.
  • Order and maintain inventory for service supply and safety items.
  • Assist mechanics in procuring outside parts for repair.
  • Monitor, maintain and operate filter crusher.
  • Monitor and maintain refrigerant inventory and log.
  • Schedule building maintenance and vehicle maintenance for the Company equipment.
  • Schedule or perform maintenance on all building related equipment, tooling, and structures.
  • Place parts orders and prepare purchase requisitions from outside venders.
  • Adhere to safe work practices and procedures.
  • Maintain housekeeping of tool room area.
  • Use automated tool-tracking system.
  • Read appropriate literature to insure all tools/information are current.
  • Update manuals as required.
  • Work with a spirit of cooperation and teamwork.
  • Assist other departments with house cleaning efforts and parts deliveries if called upon or as time permits.
  • Inspect eyewash stations weekly and fire extinguishers monthly.
  • Should be familiar with contractors to assist in the maintenance of the building and building related repairs.
  • Knowledge of building codes, plumbing, light carpentry, light electrical, hydraulics, and heating & cooling systems.
