About The Position

As a Boiler Operator, you’ll operate, monitor, and maintain high-pressure boilers (500+ HP). You will adjust and control steam pressure, combustion efficiency, feedwater levels, and system temperatures. You will respond quickly to alarms or abnormal conditions and conduct routine equipment rounds. You will perform preventive maintenance on boilers, pumps, valves, burners, and auxiliary equipment. You will troubleshoot and resolve issues with controls, combustion systems, feedwater equipment, and steam distribution. You will coordinate with maintenance technicians and contractors for repairs. You will follow all safety policies, including PPE use and lockout/tagout procedures. You will maintain compliance with Minnesota boiler licensing regulations and facility procedures. You will complete required logs, inspections, and documentation. You will conduct and record boiler water chemistry tests; adjust chemical feed systems for proper treatment, scale prevention, and corrosion control. You will maintain detailed operational logs of steam production, fuel usage, alarms, and maintenance work. You will document irregularities, system adjustments, and corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Valid Minnesota Class 1B Boiler Engineer License or higher
  • Demonstrated experience operating high-pressure boilers (preferably >500 HP)
  • Strong understanding of steam systems, combustion principles, and related mechanical equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret gauges, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Proficiency with computerized monitoring/logging systems
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in high heat environments, confined spaces, and elevated platforms
  • Ability to respond quickly during equipment alarms or operational emergencies

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in industrial or large commercial boiler operations
  • Familiarity with automated boiler controls and PLC systems
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
