Requirements
- Valid Minnesota Class 1B Boiler Engineer License or higher
- Demonstrated experience operating high-pressure boilers (preferably >500 HP)
- Strong understanding of steam systems, combustion principles, and related mechanical equipment
- Ability to read and interpret gauges, schematics, and technical manuals
- Proficiency with computerized monitoring/logging systems
Nice To Haves
- Experience in industrial or large commercial boiler operations
- Familiarity with automated boiler controls and PLC systems
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and maintain high-pressure boilers (500+ HP)
- Adjust and control steam pressure, combustion efficiency, feedwater levels, and system temperatures
- Respond quickly to alarms or abnormal conditions and conduct routine equipment rounds
- Perform preventive maintenance on boilers, pumps, valves, burners, and auxiliary equipment
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with controls, combustion systems, feedwater equipment, and steam distribution
- Coordinate with maintenance technicians and contractors for repairs
- Follow all safety policies, including PPE use and lockout/tagout procedures
- Maintain compliance with Minnesota boiler licensing regulations and facility procedures
- Complete required logs, inspections, and documentation
- Conduct and record boiler water chemistry tests; adjust chemical feed systems for proper treatment, scale prevention, and corrosion control
- Maintain detailed operational logs of steam production, fuel usage, alarms, and maintenance work
- Document irregularities, system adjustments, and corrective actions
