Requirements

  • Valid Minnesota Class 1C Boiler Engineer License or higher.
  • Demonstrated experience operating high pressure boilers (preferably >500 HP).
  • Strong understanding of steam systems, combustion principles, and related mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret gauges, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency with computerized monitoring/logging systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in industrial or large commercial boiler operations.
  • Familiarity with automated boiler controls and PLC systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain high pressure boilers (500+ HP).
  • Adjust and control steam pressure, combustion efficiency, feedwater levels, and system temperatures.
  • Conduct routine equipment rounds and respond promptly to alarms or abnormal conditions.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on boilers, pumps, valves, burners, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to controls, combustion systems, feedwater equipment, and steam distribution.
  • Coordinate with maintenance technicians and contractors for repairs.
  • Follow all safety policies, including PPE use and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with Minnesota boiler licensing regulations and facility procedures.
  • Complete required logs, inspections, and documentation.
  • Conduct and record boiler water chemistry tests.
  • Adjust chemical feed systems to ensure proper treatment, scale prevention, and corrosion control.
  • Maintain detailed operational logs of steam production, fuel usage, alarms, and maintenance work.
  • Document irregularities, system adjustments, and corrective actions.
