About The Position

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace. This role involves performing critical quality checks on vehicle body components, ensuring adherence to design specifications, and investigating quality deviations to determine root causes and implement improvements. The specialist will partner with various teams to resolve concerns and serve as a subject matter expert during launch and production ramp-up activities.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing or automotive environment, in a Quality role.
  • Certified Auditor meeting VW group standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of welding techniques, adhesive application, and body panel assembly processes.
  • Proficiency: Ability to use calipers, micrometers, gap gauges, and other measurement tools.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong observational and analytical skills for identifying defects and discrepancies.
  • Ability to document findings accurately and communicate effectively with production and quality teams.
  • Capable of analyzing defects and recommending corrective actions.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Passport required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Critical Spot Weld Checks to verify the presence and integrity of essential welds.
  • Ensure Correct Weld Position according to design specifications.
  • Conduct Distance Measurements from weld spots to edges, radius start points, and neighboring joints.
  • Inspect for Surface around weld areas.
  • Check for Burn Through Weld Spots and Weld Protrusion at electrode indentations.
  • Identify Weld Spatter, Electrode Marks, and Weld Flash around weld locations.
  • Confirm Adhesive Application meets specifications without run-out.
  • Ensure Hole Locations & Diameters meet design criteria for mounting and fasteners.
  • Inspect Class A Surfaces for blemishes, dents, and other defects.
  • Measure Dimensional Accuracy of closure panels and body components.
  • Assess Material Integrity for scratches, dents, or corrosion.
  • Evaluate Gap & Flushness between panels using precision gauges.
  • Ensure Overall Symmetry of body panels across the vehicle.
  • Verify Attachment Points and Weld Nut Presence with torque tests when applicable.
  • Conduct Black Body Audit
  • Lead investigation of body shop quality deviations and determine root cause for recurring defects.
  • Evaluate non-conforming conditions and determine appropriate containment and corrective actions.
  • Analyze quality trends and recommend process improvements to improve first-pass yield and reduce defects.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Maintenance, and Supplier Quality Teams to resolve complex quality concerns.
  • Assess unusual quality issues and recommend the most effective resolution based on technical analysis and manufacturing constraints.
  • Drive closure of corrective action plans and validate effectiveness through data analysis and audit activities.
  • Serve as a body quality subject matter expert during launch and production ramp activities.
  • Support development and refinement of inspection standards, quality procedures, and audit methodologies
