About The Position

Denver Health, in collaboration with the University of Colorado, is seeking a Body Imaging Radiologist at the Assistant, Associate, or full Professor level. This role involves clinical radiology practice, nurturing an educational program for students, residents, and fellows, and participating in research or scholarship. The ideal candidate will have a record of clinical excellence, strong teaching abilities, and scholarly interests. The position emphasizes advanced, cutting-edge, and highly collaborative care in the acute setting, with a focus on interpreting outpatient, emergency, and inpatient radiology studies including MR, CT, US, radiography, and occasional fluoroscopy. Radiologists at Denver Health participate in the education of University of Colorado medical students, radiology and IR/DR residents, and fellows, with a strong desire to expand educational offerings. The department values patient-centered care and a highly collaborative work environment with strong relationships with emergency medicine, trauma surgery, hospital medicine, surgical subspecialties, and other hospital and outpatient-based specialties.

Requirements

  • M.D., D.O. or foreign equivalent medical degree
  • Board certification in Radiology
  • Eligibility for licensure in Colorado
  • Competent in all imaging modalities, including basic fluoroscopy (typically performed by an APP/resident)
  • Competent in interpreting general ED studies in a call environment, including radiography, CT, US, and MRI modalities
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures and techniques
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment
  • Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care
  • Able to receive detailed information through oral communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal communications
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills
  • Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems
  • Performs in a tactful and professional manner
  • Computer skills required
  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association
  • MD-Physician - State Medical Board

Nice To Haves

  • Fellowship training in abdominal imaging, body imaging, and/or cardiothoracic imaging preferred
  • Prior record of academic or educational scholarship is preferred
  • Experience in teaching students and/or trainees is preferred
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

Responsibilities

  • Clinical radiology practice
  • Nurturing a robust and growing educational program for students, residents, and fellows
  • Participating in a research or scholarship portfolio
  • Interpretation of outpatient, emergency, and inpatient radiology studies, including MR, CT, US, radiography, and occasional fluoroscopy
  • Providing advanced, cutting edge, and highly collaborative care in the acute setting
  • Participating in the education of University of Colorado medical students, radiology and IR/DR residents, and fellows
  • Review and interpreted medical images to determine patient status and future medical care
  • Determine exact images required for diagnosis and delivering orders to Radiological Technicians
  • Administer trace amounts of radioactive substances to create and enhance diagnostic images
  • Perform minimally invasive surgical techniques such as embolization, angioplasty and ablation with image guidance
  • Work with Primary Care Doctors, Nurses and Radiology Technicians to administer treatment and manage pain
  • Monitor patient progress and adjusting treatment plans as necessary
  • Create a radiation treatment plan for patients with cancer
  • Manage radiation side effects in cancer patients
