About The Position

The University of Virginia Health System (UVA Health) is seeking a fellowship-trained Body Imaging Radiologist to join its Community Division. This role involves practicing the full scope of body imaging across multiple facilities including Prince William Hospital, Haymarket Medical Center, Culpeper Hospital, Culpeper Outpatient Imaging Center, and Gainesville Outpatient Imaging Center. The position offers a blend of community-based practice with the advantages of a leading university health system's resources and academic connections. The successful candidate will dedicate approximately 90-95% of their effort to clinical service and 5-10% to administrative and service activities, with adaptability to evolving divisional needs.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree; board certified/eligible in Diagnostic Radiology.
  • Fellowship training in Body Imaging.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Strong clinical skills, collaborative mindset, and commitment to patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret a comprehensive range of Body Imaging studies across all major modalities (plain film, CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopic GI/GU exams, and non-vascular image-guided procedures).
  • Refine, expand, and improve clinical services in body imaging and related image-guided procedures.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and provide consultative expertise for referring physicians and technical staff.
  • Collaborate with referring providers to ensure appropriate, high-value use of imaging studies and procedures.
  • Share in the division’s clinical schedule and call responsibilities, with occasional coverage at the Culpeper Outpatient Imaging Center.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, workflow optimization, and patient care process enhancements.
  • Participate in peer review, clinical protocol development, and recruitment/marketing initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with technologists, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure high-quality imaging protocols and efficient workflow.
  • Promote a culture of collegiality, inclusivity, and respect within the Division and across UVA Health.
  • Support the professional reputation of UVA Radiology in the communities we serve.
