Boat Rigger
About The Position
The Boat Rigger uses mechanical and power tools to install and connect motors and accessories on boats or ATVs according to factory specifications or work orders. The role supports a strong commitment to world-class customer service and helps ensure a pleasant, productive shopping experience for customers. The Rigger tests each unit for safe and proper operation, completes rigging checklists and warranty packages, follows work-order procedures, and maintains an efficient schedule and a clean, professional work area. The position operates under general supervision using established procedures, with occasional independent judgment to resolve problems and recommendations for work procedures, policies, and practices.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent experience.
- Ability to work with electrical systems and wiring when assembling engines and connecting electrical and remote-control attachments to boats or ATVs.
- Ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner with customers and associates.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, coworkers, and customers.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Able to stand for extended periods.
- Able to work in a non-air-conditioned environment.
Responsibilities
- Rig boat packages according to factory specifications and work orders.
- Notify the Service Manager when manufacturer-provided rigging is unacceptable, a unit needs additional work, or a customer request may be infeasible or create a safety issue.
- Work efficiently to maintain service schedules.
- Prepare loose motors or trailers for customer delivery.
- Test each unit for proper and safe operation using established marine service procedures.
- Follow work-order procedures for requesting and obtaining parts, performing labor, completing paperwork, and handling parts or labor not listed on the work order.
- Compile warranty packages for every unit according to the outlined process.
- Complete rigging checklists and assist with inspections for each unit.
- Install optional equipment and accessories at the customer’s request.
- Maintain a clean and professional work area.
- Support a strong commitment to world-class customer service and a pleasant, productive customer shopping experience.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
