About The Position

Assembles aluminum boats and/or sub-assemblies, partially or completely, working at a bench, or in a boat, or on shop floor by performing the following duties. The position requires a high level of personal dependability, the ability to work effectively as a member of a team, a readiness to learn and assist in other jobs, a high aptitude for quality, as well as a high regard for the safety of self and others. The role involves positioning and installing assemblies, sub-assemblies, and parts following diagrams or blueprints, fastening parts together with various fasteners, using jigs, screws, rivets, glue, and tape. It also includes removing small quantities of metal with hand files, shears, or other tools to achieve optimal fit, and operating machinery such as drill presses, punch presses, air tools, or riveting machines. Installation of seats, bases, consoles, cables, controls, and graphics are also part of the duties. The company is a national premier boat building company for the recreation industry, specializing in bay, bass, walleye, salmon, duck hunting, and crappie fishing boats. They are growing fast in their brand new, state-of-the-art boat building plants.

Requirements

  • Qualified individuals will be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • The basic skills necessary to communicate with other employees and supervisors.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • The basic skills necessary to read and interpret rulers, gauges and other measuring devices; and the ability to perform basic mathematical functions.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide.
  • This position requires the ability to reason and determine acceptable from unacceptable product quality, personal behavior and productivity.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out step by step instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Regularly required to stand; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous assembly, wiring or rigging experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Positions and installs assemblies, sub-assemblies and parts following diagrams or blueprints.
  • Fastens parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, or other fasteners.
  • Uses jigs, screws, rivets, glue, tape and various other fasteners to install parts.
  • Removes small quantities of metal with hand files, shears or other tools to achieve optimal fit.
  • Operates drill presses, punch presses, air tools or riveting machines to assist in assembly operation.
  • Installs seats, bases, pedestals, consoles, cables, controls, graphics, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
