About The Position

The Boat Business Assistant provides clerical support for all boat, motor, trailer, or ATV customer purchases in the Boat Department or at a Boat Dealership. This role supports a strong commitment to world-class customer service and ensures a pleasant and productive shopping experience for all customers. The assistant will help sell finance and insurance programs to increase dealer revenues, conduct customer closings and funding activities, and coordinate all paperwork involved in the sale process. This includes creating and finalizing quotes, printing closing documents, entering customer deposits, and maintaining sales, finance, and commission logs. The position is also responsible for accounting for all monies received, performing end-of-day closing activities like till reconciliation and bank deposit preparation, and completing data entry into IDS for all sale-related activities, posting deals within 24 hours of delivery. Additionally, the assistant will organize and process MSOs, maintain office supplies, complete and file title work, prepare check requests, and register products with manufacturers. Other clerical tasks such as sending faxes and maintaining customer files are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent experience
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Ability to calculate figures, make change to customers, and figure percentages
  • Ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner
  • Clerical / data entry skills preferably within the marine or auto industry
  • Good organizational abilities
  • Detail oriented

Responsibilities

  • Provides clerical support for all boat, motor, trailer, or ATV customer purchases.
  • Supports world-class customer service and ensures a pleasant shopping experience.

  • Maintains Sales, Finance, and Commission logs.
  • Accounts for all monies received and ensures their safekeeping.
  • Performs end-of-day closing activities, including till reconciliation and bank deposit preparation.
  • Completes data entry into IDS for all sale-related activities and posts deals within 24 hours of delivery.
  • Organizes and processes MSOs, including safeguarding documents and maintaining a filing system.
  • Answers multi-line phones professionally and directs calls appropriately.
  • Maintains an adequate inventory of office supplies and orders them as needed.
  • Completes and files all required title work and associated documentation.
  • Prepares check requests as needed.
  • Maintains documentation from manufacturers and warranty registers products sold.
  • Performs other clerical tasks as required, such as sending faxes and maintaining customer files.
