About The Position

Engineers Without Borders USA (EWB-USA) is seeking new members for its Board of Directors for terms beginning in 2027. EWB-USA partners with communities to build essential infrastructure like clean water systems, bridges, and renewable energy solutions, aiming to create thriving communities and a better world. The organization is currently scaling its Purposeful Partnership Model, which emphasizes community leadership, local empowerment, long-term sustainability, and measurable impact. The board is looking for leaders who can actively contribute to philanthropic growth, mobilize capital, and leverage their networks to advance EWB-USA's mission. Board members are expected to make a significant personal philanthropic commitment and engage their networks to support the organization.

Requirements

  • Led at a senior level.
  • Demonstrated ability to mobilize financial support for a cause.
  • Philanthropic fundraising and major donor networks: experience activating five and six-figure gifts, running capital campaigns, or working closely with foundations and high-net-worth donors.
  • Senior executive leadership: C-suite or VP-level experience with a track record of organizational growth.
  • Ability to make a personally meaningful philanthropic commitment.
  • Willingness to actively engage networks in support of EWB-USA’s mission.
  • Ability to open doors to capital, partnerships, and new audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Make a personally meaningful annual philanthropic commitment to EWB-USA.
  • Actively engage personal and professional networks to introduce EWB-USA to prospective donors, partners, and supporters.
  • Represent EWB-USA publicly and serve as a champion for the organization’s mission and impact.
  • Participate in donor cultivation and stewardship activities.
  • Attend and actively participate in quarterly Board meetings.
  • Serve on at least one Board Committee, contributing between meetings.
  • Provide strategic oversight of organizational policies, finances, and operating plans.
  • Exercise fiduciary responsibility and oversight of organizational risk.
