About The Position

The Home Construction Regulatory Authority (HCRA) is seeking applications for a non-licensee vacancy on its Board of Directors. The HCRA is a not-for-profit corporation responsible for administering and enforcing the New Home Construction Licensing Act, 2017, with a mandate to protect consumers and support builders in Ontario. The Board of Directors, comprising nine members, is responsible for ensuring the organization's mandate is carried out effectively, shaping strategic direction, providing financial oversight, supporting outreach, and acting as ambassadors for the HCRA. The Board aims to reflect the diversity of Ontario. This specific recruitment is looking for experienced leaders, with a preference for candidates with expertise in consumer protection, financial oversight, information technology, and/or governance. The position begins in September 2026 for a three-year term.

Requirements

  • Eighteen (18) years of age or over.
  • Not an undischarged bankrupt.
  • Not a current HCRA licensee.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to proactive consumer protection.
  • Demonstrate excellence in participation.
  • Willingness to support the HCRA’s statutory mandate, mission, vision, and values.
  • Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following priority areas: Consumer Protection, Financial Oversight and Planning, Information Management and Technology, Governance.
  • Experience in risk management, strategic planning, licensing, and regulatory sectors is also welcomed.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates who bring expertise in consumer protection along with financial oversight, information technology, and/or governance expertise.
  • Candidates who bring strength in more than one of the priority areas are especially encouraged to apply.
  • Individuals with a broad spectrum of knowledge and experience in areas such as risk management, strategic planning, licensing, and regulatory sectors, to complement the existing strengths of the Board.
