Board Coordinator

Maryland Department of Transportation•Baltimore City, MD

About The Position

The Maryland Transit Administration is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Board Coordinator to provide centralized administrative, operational, and governance support to the Baltimore Core Transit Service Board and the Commuter Services Board. The position manages the full board-meeting lifecycle, maintains official records, coordinates public notices, accessibility, language access, ethics, and records-retention requirements, prepares executive-level materials and briefings, and tracks decisions, approvals, and follow-up actions. The role supports consistent governance while accounting for the boards’ distinct statutory responsibilities, operating priorities, and decision calendars. The coordinator exercises independent judgment to organize work, identify issues requiring executive attention, and coordinate timely responses across MTA offices and external stakeholders. The role calls for discretion with confidential and pre-decisional information; strong written communication; accurate preparation of minutes, resolutions, executive briefings, and official records; and sufficient knowledge of public-sector governance, transportation operations, and administrative practices to recognize matters requiring executive, legal, civil-rights, ethics, records, or fiscal review. The position supports two independent boards within a large, safety-sensitive, geographically dispersed transit organization.
