About The Position

Dogwood Veterinary Specialty & Emergency is seeking a Board-Certified or Residency-Trained Veterinarian in Critical Care (DACVECC) to join their brand-new, state-of-the-art, 20,000+ sq ft hospital in Dunwoody, Georgia, opening in 2026. This is an opportunity to be a founding leader and help build the ICU and critical care service from the ground up. The role is ideal for a seasoned DACVECC or an early-career criticalist looking to make an impact in a specialty-driven hospital focused on collaboration, innovation, and medical excellence. The critical care service is central to the hospital's model, and the veterinarian will work within a highly collaborative multispecialty team.

Requirements

  • Board-Certified or Residency-Trained Veterinarian in Critical Care (DACVECC).
  • Collaborative and medicine-forward approach.
  • Belief that great ICU care requires great communication.
  • Desire to work alongside ER, surgery, IM, and anesthesia for full-spectrum care.
  • Enjoyment of teaching, mentoring, and growing the next generation.

Responsibilities

  • Help design the ICU and critical care service, including protocols and monitoring technology.
  • Create a sustainable ICU service from day one.
  • Collaborate with a multispecialty team including surgeons, neurologists, a cardiologist, an anesthesiologist, an anesthesia resident, internal medicine specialists, and emergency doctors.
  • Provide critical care to patients.
  • Participate in shared rounds and seamless patient handoffs.
  • Teach and mentor the next generation of veterinary professionals.
