About The Position

Miller's Health Systems provides free training for people interested in becoming Certified Nursing Assistants. The program includes classroom instruction and supervised clinical training at a long-term care facility. Students who complete the course must pass the state exam to become Certified Nurse's Aides. Students who successfully complete the course receive a certificate of completion and a scheduled test date. Miller's Merry Manor pays for the scheduled test and one retake if the student is hired and remains in good standing as an employee; students who are not employees must arrange and pay for their own test.

Requirements

• Pass all classroom tests with a score of at least 80%; students have three attempts to pass.
• Complete 75 hours of supervised clinical practicum and successfully complete all required skills.
• Pass a criminal background check and complete a TB test and physical before the course begins.
• Attend all classroom sessions; attendance is mandatory under Indiana State Department of Health program requirements.
• Meet satisfactory performance and attendance standards to remain in the course/program.
• Pass the state exam to become a Certified Nurse's Aide.

Responsibilities

• Complete 36–40 hours of classroom instruction and pass all classroom tests with a score of at least 80%, with up to three attempts for each test.
• Complete 75 hours of supervised practicum in a long-term care facility and successfully perform all required skills.
• Attend the first 16 practicum hours with the class instructor; absence during this period results in dismissal from the program.
• Demonstrate and obtain sign-offs for any skills not signed off during classroom training, and submit the completed skills checklist at the end of clinicals.
• Complete a clinical sign-in record each day, documenting the date and actual hours worked, signing it, and obtaining a licensed supervisor's co-signature.
• Pass the state exam after completing the program to become a Certified Nurse's Aide.
• Complete a criminal background check, TB test, and physical before starting the course.
• Attend all classroom sessions and follow facility dress code requirements.
