About The Position

AOCUSA is hiring a Blow Molding Technician Manager in Charleston, SC. Amalie Oil Company, a leader in motor oils and industrial lubricants, is seeking a talented team player to join their growing team. This full-time, on-site position involves leading technicians in the installation and repair of Blow Molding machines and manufacturing equipment. The role requires supporting the team by designing solutions for complex problems, managing projects, and training/mentoring other technicians. The manager's responsibilities span high-level strategic planning and advanced technical oversight, focusing on equipment and process maintenance, strategic planning for reliability, team leadership, safety compliance, and cross-functional collaboration with production for continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Prior experience in blow molding and plastic manufacturing.
• Experience managing multiple direct reports for multiple shifts.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the preventative and corrective maintenance of extrusion blow molding (EBM) or injection stretch blow molding (ISBM) machines.
• Ensure the proper functioning of heating zones, extruders, screws, and die heads (parison controllers).
• Maintain auxiliary systems including high-pressure air compressors, water chillers, material blenders, and grinders.
• Build and manage a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Transition the plant from reactive firefighting to preventive and predictive maintenance.
• Coordinate with the toolroom to track mold readiness, cleanings, and repairs.
• Keep critical spares in stock to minimize unscheduled downtime.
• Recruit, mentor, and upskill a team of technicians in hydraulics, electronics, and PLC troubleshooting.
• Enforce rigorous safety rules, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and mandate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Partner with the Production Manager to schedule maintenance windows.
• Analyze performance metrics like Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) to optimize processes.
• Hire, train, schedule, and supervise maintenance technicians and staff.
• Plan daily and weekly maintenance tasks, assign work orders, and prioritize urgent repairs.
• Develop and manage routine inspection and servicing programs.
• Hire and oversee third-party vendors and specialized trades people.
• Work with production managers to schedule downtime for major repairs, mold changes, and equipment upgrades.
• Focus on daily tasks, shift operations, direct technician oversight, and immediate repairs.
