About The Position

The Blow Molding Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Blow Molding department during an assigned shift. This position provides leadership to production employees, ensures production schedules and quality standards are met, and coordinates with Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, and other departments to maintain a safe, efficient, and productive manufacturing operation.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
5 years of direct experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably in blow molding, is required.
5 years of supervisory or lead experience in production/manufacturing is required
Ability to effectively manage attendance, performance, safety and employee relations in accordance with company policies
Ability to read and interpret work instructions, production schedules, quality standards and process specifications is required
Strong organizational and multitasking ability
Strong data-driven decision-making skills
Ability to monitor production efficiency, scrap, downtime, labor and quality performance
Proficiency in Excel (tracking, reporting, analysis)
Experience using basic measurement and inspection tools, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges and other precision equipment
Effective communication across the manufacturing environment and leadership teams

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial manufacturing, business administration, or leadership is preferred.
3+ years of experience with lean manufacturing principles is highly desired
Strong knowledge of the blow molding processes including setup, start up, changeovers, troubleshooting and production requirements is highly desired
Bilingual in Spanish and English, is highly desired but not required.

Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate daily production activities for blow molding operations during an assigned shift.
Lead, train, and direct production employees to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent manufacturing performance.
Monitor blow molding machines, molds, auxiliary equipment, and production processes to ensure products meet established quality and production standards.
Ensure production schedules, customer requirements, and shift targets are achieved while minimizing downtime, scrap, and production losses.
Monitor machine settings and process parameters, including temperatures, pressures, cycle times, cooling, and material usage, and direct support staff to adjust as needed.
Troubleshoot production issues involving blow molding equipment, molds, materials, and processing conditions; coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering when additional support is required.
Perform and oversee mold changes, machine startups and shutdowns, product changeovers, and line clearances in accordance with established procedures.
Inspect finished products for dimensional, visual, functional, and other quality requirements and ensure nonconforming products are properly identified and contained.
Review production reports, downtime records, scrap data, quality results, and other shift metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Conduct shift start-up meetings and communicate production priorities, safety concerns, quality issues, staffing needs, and operational updates to employees and management.
Ensure employees follow company safety policies, PPE requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, machine guarding requirements, and other applicable safety standards.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment and enforce housekeeping standards throughout the shift.
Coordinate staffing, job assignments, breaks, overtime, and coverage to maintain adequate production personnel and workflow.
Train and coach employees on equipment operation, blow molding processes, work instructions, quality requirements, and safe work practices.
Address employee performance, attendance, conduct, and procedural issues in accordance with company policies and management direction.
Coordinate with Maintenance to prioritize equipment repairs and preventive maintenance activities while minimizing production interruptions.
Work closely with Quality Assurance to resolve quality concerns, investigate root causes, and implement corrective actions.
Ensure proper handling, identification, and documentation of raw materials, work-in-process, finished goods, and scrap.
Maintain accurate production, quality, downtime, maintenance, and employee records and complete required shift documentation.
Participate and lead in continuous improvement initiatives focused on improving throughput, OEE, yield, quality, safety, and cost performance.
Support root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive action activities related to production and quality issues.
Ensure compliance with company procedures, customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and applicable manufacturing standards.
Communicate effectively with incoming and outgoing shifts to ensure a smooth transfer of production status, equipment conditions, quality concerns, and outstanding issues.
Assist management with production planning, capacity requirements, staffing needs, process improvements, and implementation of new products or equipment.
Respond promptly to production emergencies, equipment failures, quality issues, and safety incidents and escalate issues appropriately.
Promote a positive, accountable, team-oriented work environment focused on safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.
