About The Position

The Blow Mold Process Engineer Specialist provides advanced technical and process engineering support for blow molding operations. This role is responsible for developing, troubleshooting, documenting, and improving blow molding processes to support safety, quality, productivity, cost, uptime, and new product launch objectives. The position partners closely with production, maintenance, mold shop, quality, materials, automation, and engineering teams to stabilize processes, reduce downtime, improve cycle times, support mold trials, and drive continuous improvement across the manufacturing operation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent hands-on blow molding experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in blow molding, plastics processing, process engineering, technical services, or manufacturing engineering preferred.
  • Strong understanding blow molding processes, resins, tooling, parison programming, trimming, cooling, material handling, and secondary operations.
  • Experience troubleshooting process and quality issues in a production environment.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, root cause analysis, standard work, and process control methods preferred.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, product specifications, quality requirements, process sheets, and manufacturing data.
  • Strong communication, organization, follow-through, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and document blow molding process parameters for new and existing molds, machines, materials, and products.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues related to part quality, cycle time, material distribution, trimming, cooling, parison control, venting, flash, warpage, shrinkage, leaks, and dimensional variation.
  • Lead or support mold sampling, first-piece inspections, process validations, production start-ups, mold transfers, and engineering changes.
  • Use structured problem-solving methods, data analysis, and root cause investigation to improve process capability, reduce scrap, and increase machine uptime.
  • Partner with production and technical teams to improve standard work, process sheets, set up practices, changeover performance, and operator troubleshooting guides.
  • Support continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, labor efficiency, cycle time reduction, automation, material usage, productivity, and cost savings.
  • Assist with equipment, tooling, mold, robot, trimming, punch, cooling, and secondary operation improvements related to blow molding performance.
  • Train and coach technicians, setup personnel, operators, and team leaders on proper processing practices, troubleshooting methods, and process discipline.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation, including process sheets.
  • Communicate project status, risks, results, and recommendations clearly to plant leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support plant performance and business needs.
