About The Position

Blending Leads primarily handle the operational responsibilities of the blending department. This role assists the Blending Supervisor in leading the team, prioritizing batches, and ensuring policies and procedures are followed. The Blending Lead also promotes a safe and productive work environment, manages technician tasks, and communicates with other departments and customers. They are responsible for making batches, testing bulk ingredients, performing lab tests, ensuring proper PPE and consumables are available, reporting shortages, performing CIPs on equipment, contributing to continuous improvement, and ensuring adherence to safety and GMP regulations. The Blending Lead must also be able to maintain blending operations production in the absence of a supervisor.

Requirements

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout 12-hour shifts
  • Frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 65 pounds
  • Occasionally lift heavier items, up to 100 pounds, with assistance or appropriate equipment when needed
  • Regularly use hands and arms to handle materials, operate equipment, and complete production tasks
  • Frequently reach, grasp, and perform repetitive motions
  • Occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, or work from elevated platforms
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
  • Possess the visual ability to safely perform essential job functions, including distinguishing colors, judging distances, and maintaining awareness of surroundings

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Blending Supervisor in leading the team in tasks and prioritizes batches based on daily line efficiency
  • Ensures that policies and procedures are followed, and that personnel are properly trained
  • Ensures completion, documentation, and verification of master sanitation schedule tasks
  • Promote a safe, positive, productive work environment
  • Ensure blending technicians stay on task and manage time efficiently
  • Communicates directly with other departments (production, shipping, procurement)
  • Assists with making batches
  • Tests/Unloads sugar, alcohol, juice (bulk ingredient) tankers
  • Tests batches in the lab as required
  • Makes sure the blenders have proper PPE and consumables available to them
  • Report any shortages to the Supervisor or Manager for re-order
  • Performs CIPs on batching equipment and storage vessels
  • Contributes to continuous improvement efforts regarding processes and equipment
  • Ensure employees are following Safety and GMP regulations
  • Communicate directly with customers
  • Ability to maintain blending operations production in the absence of a supervisor
