About The Position

Nadia Care is dedicated to transforming maternal and birth outcomes, particularly for underserved communities in the United States that face disproportionately poor results. Our mission is to enhance the pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey for women and their families by innovating maternity care delivery. We foster trust-based engagement and provide comprehensive support, both in-person and virtually, to ensure expectant mothers have the social support necessary for a joyful pregnancy. Our services include care navigation, doula support, and assistance with lactation, nutrition, housing, and transportation, among other needs. We utilize technology to facilitate virtual engagement, meeting our clients wherever they are. Nadia Care complements, rather than replaces, existing relationships with obstetricians, focusing on health-related social needs not typically addressed by medical providers.

Requirements

Valid Doula Certification
Must be an active, enrolled Medicaid provider in Maryland’s ePREP system
Deep knowledge of childbirth, non-medical pain management strategies, breastfeeding, mother/baby bonding, and postpartum recovery
Strong communicator who can provide guidance with compassion and cultural sensitivity and inspire trust with clients, families, and medical providers – virtually and in-person
Strong problem solving and organizational skills to manage multiple clients at one time
Comfortable learning new communication and telehealth platforms and EHR documentation systems
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record, reliable transportation, and compliance with state inspection, registration, and insurance requirements
Access to home internet and a phone with internet access

Nice To Haves

Fluent in Spanish or Amharic
Breastfeeding Counselor certification
Adult & Infant CPR & First Aid certification

Responsibilities

Build an initial connection in two virtual prenatal visits, educating clients on labor positions, birth plans, and expectations for Labor & Delivery
Be on-call to support your clients through active labor
Communicate with the care team to escalate clinical issues and social needs from prenatal visits as needed
Maintain clear, accurate documentation of all care interactions

You’ll receive a summary of the member’s pregnancy experience to date before your first visit. If any clinical issues arise, we also have RNs on staff, ready to help!
