The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) at Penn State invites applications for a Lecturer, Assistant Teaching Professor, or Associate Teaching Professor appointment with expertise in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, and/or related fields. We are seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and self-motivated educator who is passionate about teaching and committed to mentoring the next generation of biotechnology scientists and entrepreneurs. The department is particularly interested in candidates with experience in the biotechnology industry who will work to strengthen and grow our Biotechnology B.S. program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work effectively across disciplines, fostering partnerships with industry, academia, and the community to enhance our undergraduate biotechnology offerings. A proactive collaborator who takes the lead in developing innovative curricula, cultivating industry connections, and creating opportunities for student engagement will thrive in this role. Expectations include teaching biotechnology and related courses, and overseeing biotechnology internships; other duties may include mentoring graduate teaching assistants, teaching introductory or advanced undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses, undergraduate student advising, and service to the department or college. Work expectations for the position include fall, spring, and summer duties, with time for curriculum development and improvement over the summer. Professional development opportunities are also supported and encouraged. This appointment will be filled at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant Teaching Professor, or Associate Teaching Professor. Rank and length of term will be commensurate with the candidate's education, experience, and leadership qualities.
