About The Position

The Biomedical Equipment Technician I provides technical support to medical equipment users and performs entry-level troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, calibration, and repair of a broad range of clinical and diagnostic biomedical equipment. Ensures compliance with safety and performance standards.

Requirements

• Associate's degree (or equivalent credit hours) in biomedical equipment technology, electronics, computer science, computer information systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.

Nice To Haves

• One (1) year of clinical or healthcare work experience.
• Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical support to medical equipment users and documents the results of problem-solving efforts.
• Troubleshoots equipment issues and identifies root causes to determine appropriate corrective actions.
• Identifies and communicates changes in test methods or equipment as needed to support accurate testing outcomes.
• Performs routine measurements to assess the sensitivity, selectivity, and accuracy of medical equipment.
• Maintains, repairs, and calibrates medical equipment to meet industry standards and regulatory compliance.
• Performs preventive maintenance according to manufacturer guidelines and department procedures.
• Conducts safety inspections on assigned equipment and initiates service requests based on inspection findings.
• Performs various service tasks on general electronic and low- to medium-risk medical equipment.
• May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.
