About The Position

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for accomplished biology and biophysics researchers experienced in advanced scientific reasoning, research evaluation, experimental design, mechanism analysis, literature interpretation, and frontier-level life sciences research. This role supports a remote research collaboration focused on improving how advanced AI systems reason across biology, biophysics, and adjacent scientific disciplines. Selected professionals will apply their research expertise to evaluate scientific literature, develop challenging biology and biophysics problems, assess technical outputs, identify subtle reasoning failures, and contribute to high-quality scientific evaluation workflows.

Requirements

  • Current or recent experience as a PhD candidate, postdoctoral researcher, instructor, faculty member, principal scientist, or industry researcher
  • An active research record in biology, biophysics, or a closely related life sciences field
  • Strong publication history, including first-author or co-first-author research where applicable
  • Ability to evaluate advanced scientific work at the level of a practicing researcher
  • Strong analytical, scientific writing, and technical communication skills
  • Experience identifying subtle biological or biophysical errors that may be missed through textbook-level review
  • Availability to contribute up to 20 hours per week depending on project scope
  • Current location in the United States
  • A doctorate, current doctoral study, or postdoctoral training in biology, biophysics, biomedical sciences, neuroscience, genomics, or a closely related STEM field is highly relevant
  • Research backgrounds in molecular biology, structural biology, immunology, neuroscience, genomics, systems biology, computational biology, or quantitative biophysics may be especially valuable
  • Outstanding senior PhD candidates and recent graduates with strong publication records are encouraged to apply

Nice To Haves

  • First-author or co-first-author publications in highly regarded life sciences or multidisciplinary scientific journals
  • Competitive research fellowships, early-career awards, or major academic distinctions
  • Experience holding research grants as a Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator
  • Issued patents, scientific commercialization experience, or involvement in a research spin-out
  • Experience with microscopy, structural methods, sequencing, computational biology, molecular modeling, or quantitative data analysis
  • Familiarity with experimental reproducibility, statistical interpretation, and research methodology review
  • Previous experience reviewing manuscripts, grant proposals, technical assessments, or advanced scientific benchmarks

Responsibilities

  • Review biology and biophysics research papers for scientific rigor, novelty, validity, and methodological quality
  • Assess experimental design, mechanistic arguments, analytical methods, quantitative results, and biological interpretation
  • Evaluate whether scientific claims are adequately supported by evidence, established principles, and available literature
  • Identify subtle conceptual, experimental, statistical, or methodological issues requiring researcher-level expertise
  • Author and review challenging biology and biophysics problems for advanced scientific reasoning and evaluation workflows
  • Develop tasks involving mechanism prediction, experimental design, data interpretation, structural analysis, and literature reasoning
  • Calibrate problem difficulty, expected solutions, and evaluation criteria against graduate and research-level standards
  • Produce clear reference explanations, solution pathways, and technical assessment guidance
  • Evaluate technical outputs across molecular biology, biophysics, structural biology, immunology, neuroscience, genomics, and related fields
  • Identify unsupported assumptions, flawed mechanisms, experimental inconsistencies, and biologically implausible conclusions
  • Assess outputs involving literature synthesis, experimental proposals, quantitative analysis, and complex scientific reasoning
  • Document evaluation decisions clearly and support conclusions with rigorous scientific evidence

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly compensation
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Part-time W-2 contingent employment arrangement
  • Fully remote work
