About The Position

Topics for this lecture and laboratory (or project) course include: inheritance and its chromosomal basis; gene interactions; sources and types of mutations and the relationship of mutation to genetic disease and evolution; genetic dissection of biological processes; genetic technologies and genomic approaches. All course components and duties are performed on the UTSC campus in person. No changes to the course delivery mode are permitted. There are no hybrid options in the Department of Biological Sciences at UTSC for lectures, tutorials, laboratories or exams.

Requirements

  • Successful candidates should be near completion of their Ph.D.
  • Strong background and teaching experience in genetics

Nice To Haves

  • Previous teaching experience in BIOC15H3 at UTSC is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Design and delivery of course materials including lectures and lab manuals
  • Guided student discussions and presentations
  • Ensuring the smooth running of labs
  • Assignments and other assessments (such as exams)
  • Marking/grading
  • Office hours and miscellaneous clerical tasks
  • Instructors must be on site during the laboratory sessions at UTSC
