About The Position

Maintains the assigned patient and non-patient equipment by performing preventative and corrective maintenance as required. Must possess knowledge in the theory of operation, underlying physiological principles, and safe clinical application of biomedical equipment in the treatment of all patient types. Responsible for the application of biomedical duties in accordance with customary regulations and standards.

Requirements

  • Must possess knowledge in the theory of operation, underlying physiological principles, and safe clinical application of biomedical equipment in the treatment of all patient types.
  • Must possess basic understanding of schematics and block diagrams, etc.
  • Demonstrates the ability for, but not limited to, installation, calibration and inspection of biomedical and related technical equipment.
  • Must be able to communicate (verbally and in writing) with medical staff, equipment user, technical peers and department manager.
  • Must have valid Driver’s license and be able to commute to offsite locations when required.

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate in Biomedical Technology or Associate degree in Biomedical Technology preferred
  • Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) or military equivalent (preferred).
  • Network +/CCNA are preferred.
  • Valid Michigan Driver's License may be required may be required for certain tasks or locations, and that those working in positions with driving responsibilities are required to provide proof of a valid Michigan Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Repair, install, maintain, calibrate and inspect a diverse range of therapeutic and diagnostic biomedical instrumentation and equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices and systems.
  • Diagnose and correct system and equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintain documentation on new equipment, inspections, and equipment repairs and failures.
  • Provide technical assistance and instruction on equipment operation and maintenance to personnel.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Meets target objectives and standards for timeliness and quality of Planned Maintenance (PM) schedules and repairs of general and specialized clinical equipment.
  • Responsible for coordinating repairs with vendors and users when needed, this includes follow up documentation and verification that issues are resolved.
  • Attends training session on equipment maintenance in order to keep up-to-date on technological and medical equipment advances.
  • Provides on-call service coverage after normal business hours on a rotating basis, as assigned.
