About The Position

Sir Speedy Longwood is a locally owned and nationally recognized printing, signage, and marketing company looking for an experienced Bindery Operator to join our production team. We are a fast-paced, creative work environment where teamwork, accountability, and quality matter. We work with a wide variety of local and regional businesses, helping our clients bring their brands to life through print, signage, marketing materials, and more. Our production team plays a major role in the customer experience. As our Bindery Operator, you will be responsible for taking printed work through the finishing process and making sure every job is completed accurately, efficiently, and to our quality standards.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in print production, bindery, finishing, manufacturing, or a similar production environment
  • Comfortable operating production equipment and learning new machinery
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Able to read measurements and work accurately with rulers and basic production specifications
  • Understand the importance of deadlines and production schedules
  • Proactive and willing to take initiative without needing constant direction
  • Able to identify poor-quality or incorrect work and bring it to management's attention
  • Communicate well with coworkers and work effectively as part of a team
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities may change throughout the day
  • Take pride in keeping their workspace and equipment clean and organized
  • Dependable and consistently show up ready to work

Responsibilities

  • Operate bindery and finishing equipment including cutters, folders, creasers, scoring and perforating equipment, drills, laminators, and binding equipment
  • Cut, fold, score, perforate, collate, pad, drill, stitch, staple, laminate, and bind printed materials
  • Perform coil/spiral binding and other finishing processes as required
  • Read and follow job tickets to ensure specifications, quantities, and finishing requirements are correct
  • Prioritize jobs based on production schedules and due dates
  • Inspect finished work for accuracy and quality before it moves to the next stage
  • Catch and communicate production or quality issues before a job is completed
  • Count, package, label, and prepare completed jobs for customer pickup, delivery, or shipping
  • Assist with shipping and receiving as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production area
  • Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of bindery equipment
  • Monitor supplies and communicate when materials need to be reordered
  • Work closely with our production, customer service, and sales teams to keep jobs moving and meet customer deadlines
  • Assist with other production responsibilities as workload requires
