About The Position

We're looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Bindery Operator to join our production team. In this role, you'll complete finishing requirements for press and digital print projects according to job specifications, maintain bindery equipment, and help ensure every project is delivered accurately and on time. Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated team player with strong organizational and time management skills who thrives under deadlines. You'll work in a production environment that includes exposure to ink, paper dust, chemical fumes, and occasional loud noise, and you'll be expected to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds as needed. You'll also have the opportunity to learn from two veteran Bindery Operators with over 40 years of experience each, who are eager to share their knowledge and teach the skills and techniques they've developed throughout their careers.

Requirements

  • Minimum of six months of experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Good mathematical and measurement skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Dependable with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous printing or bindery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform bindery functions as specified on work orders and job tickets, including but not limited to: Folding, Cutting, Padding, Numbering, GBC punching, Spiral or coil binding, Fastback binding, Collating, Scoring, Perforating, Drilling, Stitching or stapling, Laminating, Wrapping.
  • Ensure all finished products meet quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Complete work accurately and efficiently while maintaining production deadlines.
  • Prioritize work based on due dates listed on work orders/job tickets and additional priorities established by management.
  • Prepare work according to the daily production schedule to maximize efficiency.
  • Communicate any scheduling concerns or production delays to management promptly.
  • Package completed jobs according to customer and company requirements.
  • Complete all required job tickets, work orders, and delivery documentation.
  • Place completed jobs in designated staging areas.
  • Arrange shipping or delivery using the carrier specified on the work order/job ticket.
  • Pull and process control file copies of completed work orders daily.
  • Maintain all bindery equipment according to manufacturer-recommended maintenance schedules.
  • Keep equipment clean, lubricated, and in proper working condition.
  • Report equipment issues immediately and obtain management approval before requesting service.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and organized production area.
  • Reject poor-quality or incorrect work and notify management immediately.
  • Work collaboratively with production, customer service, sales, and design teams to exceed customer expectations.
  • Follow all company policies, systems, and operating procedures.
  • Comply with all OSHA safety requirements and safe equipment operating practices.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Notify management of any supply shortages that could impact production.
