First Shift Bindery Operator

About The Position

Wallace Graphics is hiring a Bindery Operator for its finishing operation in Duluth. Reporting to the Bindery Manager, this hands-on role turns printed sheets into finished products by setting up, operating, and maintaining bindery equipment for cutting, folding, or stitching. The operator reads job jackets and related specifications, adjusts equipment to meet job requirements, and maintains quality from the start of each run through completion. Cross-training on additional equipment is available as the employee grows.

Requirements

At least 1–2 years of experience operating production bindery equipment, such as a cutter, folder, or stitcher.
Comfort using equipment control panels and understanding machine components.
Ability to read job jackets, imposition and rule-up sheets, and written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills to determine cutting, folding, or stitching requirements.
Ability to set up and adjust equipment and check work during production.
Basic machine-maintenance knowledge, including cleaning and lubrication.
Basic computer and keyboard skills.
Dependability, attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, time-management skills, and a team-first and safety-first attitude.

Responsibilities

Set up, operate, and adjust bindery equipment for cutting, folding, or stitching.
Read job jackets, imposition and rule-up sheets, and written or verbal instructions to determine job specifications.
Check work throughout production and ensure jobs meet customer quality and quantity requirements before moving on or shipping.
Perform basic equipment maintenance, including cleaning and lubrication; identify problems, address those within capability, and escalate issues to the Manager.
Log jobs in the data collection system.
Manage time, direct fellow crew members when needed, maintain a clean and tidy work area, and follow safety rules.
