About The Position

The Billing Specialist supports accounts receivable and billing for an ambulatory surgery center (ASC). The role reviews clinical documentation to code and post surgery and hospital charges for insurance billing, assists with CPT and ICD-10 coding, and works ASC accounts receivable. Candidates must have knowledge of accounts receivable, denial management, and CPT/ICD-10 coding, with at least three years of related accounts receivable or medical billing experience; ASC claims experience is preferred. The position maintains communication with the Team Lead and/or Supervisor, protects patient confidentiality, complies with governmental and regulatory requirements, and completes required training and in-services, including annual OSHA training and PPD placements. It also includes other assigned duties. The role operates in a professional office environment and travel is primarily local during the business day, though some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
Minimum of three years of related accounts receivable or medical billing experience.
Knowledge of accounts receivable, denial management, and CPT/ICD-10 coding.
Ability to solve practical problems and handle varied situations with limited standardization.
Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule-form instructions.
Thorough knowledge of computer information systems.

Nice To Haves

One year of experience working with ASC claims is preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintain patient information in accordance with the established patient confidentiality policy.
Maintain compliance with governmental and regulatory requirements.
Complete mandated training and in-services in a timely manner, including annual OSHA training and PPD placements.
Work accounts receivable for the ASC.
Perform other duties as assigned.
