About The Position

Exceptional Wellness Counseling (EWC) is a therapist-owned mental health group practice that prioritizes employee well-being. EWC is seeking a Billing Assistant to support their billing department, ensuring a positive and efficient financial experience for clients. Requirements

  • 1–3+ years of medical billing experience preferred.
  • Experience with electronic insurance processing required.
  • Friendly, confident, and professional in person, on the phone, and via email.
  • Reliable, hardworking, ability to multitask, detail-oriented, proactive, and open to feedback and growth.
  • Ability to spot issues and help solve them.
  • Comfortable with billing systems and processing claims electronically.
  • Value team collaboration and exceptional client care.
  • Lead with kindness, integrity, teamwork, and a willingness to jump in where needed.
  • Must be able to commute to our Manalapan and Shrewsbury offices.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with commercial insurance, Medicare, credentialing, payer processes, ICD-10 and CPT codes preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support a solution-focused and collaborative billing environment.
  • Support the billing cycle including claim submission, payment posting, claim follow-up, and resolution support.
  • Accurately verify prospective and current client information and insurance.
  • Ensure timely and accurate insurance claim processing and payment posting.
  • Process client payments and maintain up-to-date financial records.
  • Assist with billing issues such as coordination of benefits, insurance terminations, claim follow-up, and recoupments, with opportunities to grow into more complex billing responsibilities over time.
  • Maintain billing documentation, insurance aging reports, and billing-related tracking.
  • Support provider credentialing and re-credentialing processes.
  • Respond to client and staff billing questions with clarity, professionalism, and empathy.
  • Collaborate with the billing team and leadership to support smooth workflows and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with billing procedures, carrier requirements, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Support ongoing billing initiatives and process improvements across the department.
