About The Position

American Student Transportation Partners (“ASTP”) is a rapidly growing platform that partners with best-in-class operators in the student transportation industry. ASTP provides a full spectrum of transportation solutions, including van, special needs, mini-bus, and large bus K–12 transportation services across public and parochial school systems. Since completing its platform acquisition of Krise Transportation in April 2021, ASTP has achieved more than 100% growth through a combination of organic new bid wins and strategic add-on acquisitions. ASTP is led by a seasoned management team with deep experience building and scaling private equity-backed, multi-site service organizations. ASTP serves as a long-term partner to student transportation operators by delivering access to capital, shared services, innovative programs, and operational toolkits designed to support growth, efficiency, and performance in a highly competitive and regulated market. ASTP is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Billing Analyst to join its growing finance organization. This role plays a critical part in supporting accurate revenue recognition, timely invoicing, and strong cash flow across the platform. The Billing Analyst will be responsible for executing day-to-day billing activities, analyzing billing data, and resolving discrepancies while collaborating closely with Operations, Accounts Receivable, and other internal stakeholders. This is a hands-on role suited for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment and is comfortable owning processes while continuously improving them.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in billing, revenue accounting, or financial analysis.
  • Strong understanding of billing processes and revenue recognition principles.
  • Demonstrated experience in hands-on billing roles with direct accountability for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions.
  • High level of proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Working knowledge of financial controls, compliance standards, and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and issue client invoices accurately and on time in accordance with contractual terms, service agreements, and billing schedules.
  • Review customer contracts and service agreements to ensure proper billing setup, compliance, and ongoing alignment with agreed-upon terms.
  • Analyze billing data to identify trends, variances, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Investigate and resolve billing inquiries and disputes, partnering with customers, Operations, and internal finance teams as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations to validate service delivery data and ensure billing accuracy.
  • Develop, document, and maintain billing procedures, controls, and process workflows.
  • Support the Accounts Receivable Manager by monitoring outstanding balances, assisting with collections follow-up, and ensuring timely customer payments.
  • Assist with month-end close activities, including billing-related reconciliations and reporting.
  • Provide support for internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to audit requests.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to enhance billing efficiency, accuracy, and scalability as the business continues to grow.
