About The Position

CMHC is dedicated to a well-functioning housing system and fosters a collaborative and adaptive work environment. This role is within the Corporate Services team, focusing on bilingual editing and translation. The position is temporary, full-time, for a duration of 24 months, with a hybrid work model and limited travel. The role requires translating English texts to French, revising external translations, and proofreading French or English texts. Occasional overtime may be necessary to meet operational needs.

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in translation or in a related field such as linguistics.
  • A minimum of three years of revision and translation experience in a similar professional environment. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of translation and terminology management tools (FlowFit and Trados/Studio and GroupShare).
  • The ability to adapt language and style to various types of documents (policy, financial and market analysis reports, social media, web content).
  • Strong project management and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and juggle several projects at the same time.

Nice To Haves

  • A professional designation or membership in a provincial or territorial association of translators, interpreters, and terminologists.
  • A degree or specialized knowledge in a field related to the Corporation’s lines of business.

Responsibilities

  • Revise in-depth or perform quality control on texts translated by the external provider.
  • Translate high-profile CMHC documents as assigned by Linguistic Services project managers.
  • Contribute to the enrichment of the central terminology base by recording the results of terminological research as a specialist.
  • Ensure the processed materials are aligned with the expectations of the intended audience(s).
  • Provide quality client service and return projects within agreed deadlines.
  • Organize work in such a way as to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Help colleagues with their tasks and workload when available.
  • Provide linguistic support services to internal clients as required.
