Reporting to the Vice President, Surety Solutions, and working closely with business leaders and your peers, you will assist in building the Quebec surety portfolio through strong underwriting discipline, while building trusting broker relationships, and working collaboratively with the Tokio Marine Canada surety unit. Requirements

  • Direct experience specifically in surety.

  • Comfortable working on a lean team and are not afraid to roll up your sleeves and do the work that needs to be done.
  • A university degree; Finance, Accounting, or related studies preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Surety (preferred) or Financial Services, analyzing financial statements.
  • Capability to manage multiple stakeholders
  • A high level of organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated capability managing multiple priorities simultaneously to meet deadlines and drive for results

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (both French and English) are required as this role does collaborate with other departments nationally.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate new risks through thorough analysis to determine acceptability and pricing.
  • Analyze financial statements, capacity, collateral, and character of new surety opportunities.
  • Analyze and review projects requiring bonds, approving within given authority, or recommending approval or denial of surety bonds.
  • Monitor ongoing bonded projects.
  • Create and maintain concise and complete underwriting files.
  • Conducting ongoing review and management of surety portfolio, ensuring accounts are up to date with action items being followed up.
  • Work with Surety team with suggestions for improving systems and processes, with focus on continued efficiencies.
  • Help assist underwriting efforts across country where needed.
  • Support marketing, legal and claims services when required.
  • Build and manage select broker relationships in Quebec.
  • Working with surety team in building and implementing broker strategy.
  • Promoting the Tokio Marine Canada brand, working closely with various business units including Professional & Financial Solutions and Commercial Insurance.
  • Travel within Quebec on a regular basis. Participate in various broker and industry events as required.
