About The Position

The Bilingual Peer Academic Coach provides peer-to-peer support through tailored academic coaching that builds on tutoring and mentoring in a relationship-rich environment focused on academic engagement and success. Student employees help organize study sessions, maintain the space, tutor in subjects related to their majors and skills, and mentor students on time management, study habits, and social practices that support engagement. The role may also involve tutoring language students and students outside the coach’s college, reviewing target language, academic subjects, and course assignments, and assisting faculty and staff with recruitment, retention, and community outreach. Computer knowledge and familiarity with office equipment are helpful. This student employee position is for 3–20 hours per week and may start at $12.00 per hour. Offers of employment are contingent upon a satisfactory background check.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled at EKU.
• Appropriate proficiency in oral and written English, target subjects, and required language(s).
• Must be enrolled in upper-division language studies classes or have appropriate equivalency for other subjects.
• Maintain a cumulative GPA above 3.0.
• Ability to work productively in teams and interact effectively with others.
• Proactive and self-motivated.
