About The Position

The Bilingual Juntos 4-H Coordinator is a member of the Trempealeau County Extension team as part of the Positive Youth Development Institute. The Wisconsin 4-H Program contributes to this work through the purposeful engagement of over 24,000 youth members and 8,000 adult volunteer leaders in 4-H clubs and groups throughout the state and tribal nations. The Wisconsin 4-H program is a youth-driven, volunteer- supported organization committed to expanding access to all and empowering youth to thrive. The Bilingual Juntos 4-H Coordinator will be trained in the Juntos Program, geared towards Spanish speaking youth and families, including core components of Juntos 4-H, including family engagement, 4-H clubs, and career readiness programming. The Coordinator will work with identified middle and high schools and community partners to promote student involvement and focus on academic success, career exploration, and college readiness activities of youth participants. This position will provide the culturally responsive, high quality, community-based Juntos Program designed to reach Spanish speaking students in 8th-12th grade. There will be an additional focus on working with 11th-12th grade Spanish speaking students to explore Agri-science career pathways in partnership with local school Agriculture Educators and the local Agri-science industry. Programs will include student engagement and support and will assist youth in achieving academic success with an emphasis on going on to post-secondary education. Major responsibilities include recruitment of students, organizing and implementing the academic year program, implementing 4-H clubs, and maintaining contact with students and families throughout the academic year with bilingual family engagement workshops and events. The main office for this position is located in Whitehall, WI and the primary programming focus is Trempealeau County; however, some programming may also be conducted over a broader geographical area. The initial period of employment will be 2 years, with the possibility to become renewable contingent upon available funding. It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, on-site, at a designated campus work location. This position may be required to work occasional nights and weekends to meet the program needs and priorities of the communities served. This position is grant-funded and will require out-of-state travel for training. At this time, travel is scheduled for November 2-7, 2026. It is expected that employees will make individual arrangements for transportation adequate to meet position responsibilities and essential job functions. Applicants are required to: Have a valid driver's license and a reliable source of independent transportation for periodic in-state work travel, and/or comply with requirements for UW-Madison vehicle use authorization. The Division of Extension, Trempeleau County, is hiring for a Bilingual Juntos 4-H Program Coordinator. Our research-based youth enrichment programs like teens in governance build youth and adult capacity that help both sides grow. 4-H clubs, camps and afterschool programs give young people the hands-on experiences they need to develop an understanding of themselves and the world. This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and then every two years.

Requirements

Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, with experience presenting educational content to diverse audiences in both group and one-on-one settings.
Ability to independently plan, organize, and implement programs and activities, demonstrating attention to detail, accountability, and discretion in handling confidential information
Demonstrated ability to effectively work with people from a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives
Effective verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with and/or interest in community engagement
Bilingual Required Spanish speaking, writing and comprehension skills; knowledge and understanding of Latino/Hispanic culture. Language skills will be evaluated.
Have a valid driver's license and a reliable source of independent transportation for periodic in-state work travel, and/or comply with requirements for UW-Madison vehicle use authorization.
Eligibility to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the United States, a lawful permanent resident, a foreign national authorized to work in the United States without need of employer sponsorship) on or before the effective date of appointment.
High school diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

Coursework in child/youth development and/or equivalent experience.
Experience in or with the Agriscience industry
Experience in educational outreach and access, and student aid including FAFSA, scholarships, and loan information
Knowledge of academic success strategies (study skills, time management, note/test taking, etc.).
Knowledge of barriers to post-secondary education
Experience working with limited income/first generation college bound students
Bi-cultural experience (relating to more than one distinct culture) with demonstrated experience working with individuals from varying cultural and/or socio-economic backgrounds (specifically Latinx students and families)
Bachelor's degree in a related field

Responsibilities

Helps design marketing materials and promotions for programs
Implements initiatives and events that serve the target audience
