About The Position

Harris County Public Health (HCPH) is seeking a Bilingual Dental Client Services Specialist (CSS) to perform programmatic, administrative, and logistical duties. This role is crucial for the day-to-day operations of HCPH's dental programs, requiring independent judgment and adaptability to support clinics, mobile units, community programs, and school-based programs. The CSS will ensure all tasks are performed in accordance with HCPH and Dental Program protocols.

Requirements

  • Health Related Technical Field Certification or Associate's Degree
  • At least six (6) months of experience in a clinical office setting or community program
  • Valid Texas Driver's License (upon hire)
  • CPR Certification
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work well with public and staff members
  • Must use your personal mobile device for our Multifactor Authentication process.

Responsibilities

  • Provide preparation, set-up, and support for dental programs and events, including patient registration and event logistics.
  • Prepare and assemble supplies and documents for dental events, maintain inventory, and request additional supplies.
  • Greet patients/participants, coordinate registration, and integrate event/visit documents into the appropriate computer program.
  • Maintain a presence at health fairs and community venues, providing accurate information about HCPH dental services.
  • Conduct follow-up calls and communication with patients/participants and prospective individuals.
  • Answer telephone inquiries, screen calls, refer them appropriately, and schedule appointments with dental clinical staff.
  • Instruct patients on further resources, confirm appointments, and update appointment status in Dentrix.
  • Prepare and utilize reports for accuracy, proper records documentation, and to document patient and community encounters.
  • Perform patient eligibility screening and verify insurance eligibility.
  • Provide age-specific dental education to patients and participants.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
