About The Position

Harris County Public Health (HCPH) is seeking a Bilingual Client Service Specialist for its dental programs. This role is crucial for the day-to-day operations of dental clinics, mobile units, community programs, and school-based programs. The specialist will perform a variety of administrative and logistical duties requiring independent judgment and adherence to HCPH and Dental Program protocols. The position requires adaptability to work in multiple capacities to ensure efficient clinic operations.

Requirements

  • Health Related Technical Field Certification or Associate's Degree
  • Six months experience in a clinical office setting or community program
  • Current Texas Driver's License (upon hire)
  • CPR Certification
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work well with public and staff members
  • Must use your personal mobile device for our Multifactor Authentication process

Responsibilities

  • Provide preparation, set-up, and support for dental programs and events, including patient registration and event logistics.
  • Prepare and assemble supplies and documents for dental events, maintain an inventory of dental resources, and request additional supplies.
  • Greet patients/participants, coordinate registration, and ensure proper integration of event/visit documents into the computer program.
  • Maintain a presence at health fairs and community venues, providing accurate information about HCPH dental services.
  • Conduct follow-up calls and communication with patients/participants and callers.
  • Answer telephone inquiries, screen calls, refer them appropriately, and schedule appointments with dental clinical staff.
  • Instruct patients on further resources, confirm appointments, and update appointment status in Dentrix.
  • Prepare and utilize reports for accuracy, proper records documentation, and to document patient and community encounters.
  • Perform patient eligibility screening and verify insurance eligibility.
  • Provide age-specific dental education to patients and participants.
  • Other duties as assigned.
