BILINGUAL CHINESE SPEAKING MEMBER SERVICE REP
About The Position
Charter Oak Federal Credit Union is hiring a Float Bilingual Chinese Speaking Member Service Representative to build member relationships by providing outstanding service. The representative must be able to interpret for members and conduct role-related transactions in Chinese and English. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, previous sales experience, and the ability to work in a team environment are essential. With the aid of APEX tools and training, the Member Service Representative sells the credit union’s deposit and loan services to current and potential members in person and by telephone. The representative is accountable for achieving Performance Excellence goals in their office or department.
Requirements
- Ability to provide interpretation assistance and conduct transactions in Chinese and English.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Previous sales experience.

Responsibilities
- Greet members, determine their needs, and refer them to the appropriate department when applicable.
- Communicate with members and prospective members to determine their deposit and loan needs.
- Explain and cross-sell credit union services using APEX tools while interacting with members.
- Perform clerical functions related to establishing and servicing deposits, loans, and other credit union products and services.
- Assist members with researching, balancing, and reconciling accounts, and use approved account-servicing authority prudently, such as approving checking accounts or waiving fees.
- Maintain working knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, and procedures governing credit union products, including IRAs, lending, demand deposits, and second mortgages.
- Maintain a professional image in attire, mannerisms, and workstation.
- Suggest ways to improve service, control costs, and promote credit union activities.
- Perform Loan Originator duties under Regulation Z by taking applications and assisting members in obtaining or applying for loans.
- Oversee and observe safe deposit department security procedures for the safety and protection of members and the credit union, under the direction of the Office Manager/Supervisor when applicable.
- Provide teller backup as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Provide interpretation assistance and conduct role-related transactions in Chinese and English.
