About The Position

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for compiling, posting, and maintaining attendance records and related reports. The Bilingual Attendance Clerk will contact students, parents, counselors, and teachers regarding attendance-related matters. This role also involves oral interpretation and translation of written materials in Spanish. Employees may oversee and supervise students assisting in attendance accounting and are responsible for the accurate compilation and preparation of attendance accounting information, data, and reports.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of attendance accounting methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of basic record keeping methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of English and Spanish usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in written forms in both Spanish and English.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to learn and apply District rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Ability to effectively maintain record keeping systems and files in a timely manner.
  • Ability to prepare attendance reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to type accurately at a rate required for successful job performance.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment including computer terminal, calculator, copy machines and typewriter.
  • Ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
  • One year of typing and general clerical experience, preferably including responsibilities for contact with students or general public.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing both in English and the Spanish language.
  • Must pass the District's Bilingual Certification Test in oral, reading and writing proficiency in Spanish.
  • Criminal history check will be required of successful candidate prior to employment.
