About The Position

This is a full-time, non-exempt position for a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) working the afternoon shift in Sarasota, FL, from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. The role involves working with adults and requires flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and take on responsibilities as part of an addiction treatment team. Familiarity with community resources is a plus.

Requirements

  • AHCA – Level 2 Screening/ Eligibility
  • Drivers need to be at least 21 years old
  • Drivers need to have four years driving experience or more
  • Hold a valid CDL license (when/where required)
  • Graduation from High School or GED.
  • Current and valid Florida Driver License.
  • Demonstrates Proficiency in Communication, Observation & Written skills.
  • Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding Patient Confidentiality laws.
  • Knowledge of Drug-Free Workplace Policies.
  • Knowledge of Workplace Violence.
  • Knowledge of Corporate Integrity & Ethics
  • Knowledge of addictions.
  • Knowledge of the 12-Step Recovery Program.
  • Knowledge and competency in problem solving, stress management, ethics and team building.
  • Knowledge of alcohol and other drugs that includes; Alcohol and addictive drugs and their physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual impact on the individual.
  • Knowledge of alcohol and addictive drugs and their impact on the family.
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures used in case of alcohol and/or drug overdose.
  • Knowledge of First Aid and CPR.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and Municipal laws and/or regulations that regulate the treatment of alcoholism and drug addiction, including: Confidentiality, Patient Rights, Professional Code of Ethics, Discrimination.

Nice To Haves

  • Will consider individuals without a high-school diploma with at least 1 year of experience in the treatment industry.
  • A minimum of 1-year experience in treatment industry preferred.
  • CPR certification and First Aid within 90 days of employment.
  • Familiar with community resources.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to interact with a multi-disciplinary team to assist in facets of the recovery program relating to physical health.
  • Ability to determine if a medical emergency exists and to take appropriate action, when necessary.
  • Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and assumption of responsibilities not delineated in the job description which are related to work as a member of an addiction treatment team.
