Beverage Merchandiser
About The Position
Work with the Beverage Manager and other store personnel to provide customers with a memorable shopping experience. Proactively engage with customers to assist with beverage purchases, and keep the beverage department fully stocked, attractively merchandised, and well organized. The Beverage Merchandiser supports inventory management, stocking, replenishment, delivery check-in, product rotation, pricing, display setup, and department cleanliness. The role also involves developing knowledge of beverage products and industry trends, responding promptly to customer requests, and following Island Market procedures and safety standards. Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Experience in a similar environment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings.
- Ability to calculate discounts and percentages.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work unsupervised and demonstrate effective time management.
- Ability to develop in-depth knowledge of products specific to the department.
- Good analytical, organizational, and planning skills.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers with beverage purchases using a general understanding of beverage products.
- Stock, merchandise, and maintain the beverage department to support business needs.
- Support the manager with inventory, stock levels, and replenishment according to established protocols.
- Develop understanding of beverage industry trends, producers, and new offerings, including craft beer and wine.
- Provide customers with a professional, positive shopping experience.
- Set up displays, stock shelves with new and replacement merchandise, and rotate products as needed.
- Accurately check in weekly deliveries from beverage suppliers and account for outdated products to obtain credit.
- Resolve customer requests promptly and facilitate special orders.
- Ensure merchandise is properly priced and tagged.
- Rotate stock to maintain freshness, monitor outdated products, and keep displays faced and full.
- Maintain departmental cleanliness and sanitation.
- Follow Island Market procedures and safety standards.
- Perform other assigned tasks.
Benefits
- Prime Time Pay: an additional $3 per hour for eligible hours worked Saturdays and Sundays and Monday through Friday between 6:00 pm and 3:00 am.
