About The Position

Responsible for the administration, planning, evaluation and implementation of complex benefits programs with regard to plan options, features, enrollment and policies. Plans, evaluates and implements the University’s retirement and staff and faculty wellness programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Five years of experience as a Benefits Administrator.
  • In-depth knowledge of a variety of benefit plans, analyzing benefit plans and making informed recommendations.
  • Experience analyzing data to make recommendations regarding benefits options and plans.
  • Proven experience managing multiple deadline-driven priorities; demonstrated ability to take initiative an ownership of projects.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact successfully across all levels within and outside the University; customer service orientation.
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills, adapting knowledge and experience to various situations, ability to troubleshoot effectively.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Quantitative analytical skills.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws, particularly employee benefit and retirement plan laws and regulations.
  • Advance competency with HR software (HRIS).
  • All jobs require a current Criminal Background Check (CBC).

Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of Trinity’s comprehensive benefits programs, including medical, prescription drug, dental, FSA, EAP, retirement, tuition remission/exchange, ancillary benefits, and employee leaves.
  • Participates in setting overall benefits strategy in collaboration with the Health and Welfare Committee.
  • Leads annual open enrollment, including planning, plan design, analysis, modeling, and implementation.
  • Proactively partners with brokers and vendors to evaluate plan design, identify cost-saving opportunities, recommend improvements, and support vendor selection.
  • Oversees premium payments to third-party providers and audits accuracy against employee payroll deductions.
  • Develops and manages employee benefits communication and education strategies, including high-quality written materials and benefits website content.
  • Coordinates and facilitates benefits-related events such as open enrollment meetings, fiscal awareness sessions, new hire benefits orientations, and individual employee consultations.
  • Assists employees with benefits enrollment and changes using the Workday benefits module.
  • Responds to employee benefits and retirement plan inquiries; troubleshoots issues, identifies root causes, and implements corrective actions.
  • Reviews and analyzes benefits administration processes to improve efficiency through streamlining, automation, and operational enhancements.
  • Configures and maintains benefits-related functionality and file feeds in Workday; tests and validates new configurations.
  • Leverages benefits technology platforms to enhance employee experience, improve workflows, and strengthen data analytics and reporting.
  • Maintains current expertise in employee benefits and retirement regulations; researches legislative changes and provides compliance recommendations.
  • Collaborates with Risk Management to ensure benefits programs, policies, contracts, and communications comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintains comprehensive plan document library.
  • Performs annual ACA compliance activities, including 1095 reporting.
  • Conducts FSA/HSA non-discrimination testing.
  • Manages benefits-related vendor contracts and oversees associated compliance requirements.
  • Develops and manages the annual faculty and staff wellness calendar.
  • Plans and coordinates wellness events, workshops, and training sessions focused on employee health and well-being.
  • Tracks, analyzes, and reports on wellness program metrics, including participation rates and program effectiveness.
  • Cooperates and collaborates with other employees in the spirit of teamwork and collegiality and interacts with confidence, patience and integrity to provide professional leadership during emergencies.
  • Complies with all Trinity University policies and guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as required.
