About The Position

Clark Hill PLC is seeking an experienced individual for the role of Benefits Specialist for its Detroit, Lansing, or Pittsburgh office. The Benefits Specialist supports the administration and delivery of employee benefit programs, including health, welfare, and retirement plans. This role serves as a key resource for employees, HR partners, and vendors by providing guidance on benefit eligibility, enrollment, life events, and plan processes while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with applicable laws and internal policies. This is a hybrid position, requiring the Benefits Specialist to be in the office at least three days per week.

Requirements

  • A minimum of three years of experience in employee benefits, human resources, or a related field.
  • In-depth working knowledge of health, welfare, retirement, wellness, leave, and accommodation programs and applicable regulations such as COBRA and HIPAA.
  • Familiarity with benefits systems, data integrations, testing, imports, exports, and routine audits.
  • Experience conducting reporting and analysis related to benefits administration, enrollment activity, and process performance.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required, including the ability to work with formulas, pivot tables, lookups, and large data sets for reporting, reconciliation, and audit support.
  • Excellent attention to detail with superb proofreading skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage a high-volume and diverse workload, able to handle multiple tasks at one time with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Must have sound judgment and business acumen when interacting with internal and external clients.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the administration and delivery of employee benefit programs, including health, welfare, and retirement plans.
  • Serves as a key resource for employees, HR partners, and vendors by providing guidance on benefit eligibility, enrollment, life events, and plan processes.
  • Ensures accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.
  • Guides employees through benefits enrollment and life event processes, including explaining and monitoring documentation requirements and deadlines.
  • Oversees COBRA administration and coordinates third-party administrators and carriers to ensure accurate and timely service delivery and issue resolution.
