About The Position

The Human Resources Benefits Coordinator provides excellent and compassionate service to Pepperdine employees as they navigate the many amazing benefits of working at the University. This position provides administrative support for the University’s benefits program and serves to coordinate health and welfare benefits, retirement contributions, paid time off, workers’ compensation, and more. Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Google Drive, and Google Mail
  • Experience with complex databases
  • General office and administrative experience
  • Ability to multitask and handle heavy visitor and phone traffic
  • Exceptional personalized customer service and verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Ability to demonstrate Pepperdine’s mission in work performed
  • Standard office equipment (computer, fax, telephone, printer)

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years' work experience in an administrative support position.
  • Familiarity with Pepperdine University

Responsibilities

  • Serve as front-line customer service support for all employee benefits questions.
  • Utilize HRIS and other relevant software to manage benefits data effectively; Perform routine audits to ensure the accuracy and reliability of benefits data and transmissions to external partners; Support benefits-related tasks to ensure that all processes adhere to company policies and legal requirements.
  • Assist with Pepperdine's Workers' Compensation program and the ongoing day-to-day reporting of injuries to insurance carriers.
  • Assist with ongoing benefits enrollment and open enrollment, including completion of manual election entries, system testing, document review, and enrollment changes resulting from qualifying life events (e.g., marriage, childbirth, changes in employment status).
  • Research trends, best practices, and benchmarking to support offering a competitive & compelling total compensation package to recruit & retain the best workforce for Pepperdine.
  • Assist with employee leaves of absence (LOAs), including regularly communicating with employees in preparation for and throughout the LOA with excellent and compassionate service; processing payroll timely and accurately for employees on a LOA; communicating with supervisors to aid in business continuity; and maintaining digital files of LOA documentation.
  • Serve as a liaison with insurance carriers and third-party administrators, resolving employee issues, supporting data integrity, and ensuring the timely flow of benefits information.
  • Serve as a complementary host at various Human Resources events, including New Employee Orientation, employee engagement events, and professional development opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
