About The Position

Genesis HealthCare System is seeking a Benefits Consultant to join their Human Resources department. This role serves as the primary point of contact for employee benefit questions and issue resolution, presenting detailed benefits information during new employee orientation sessions. The consultant will administer employee benefit plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations across medical, dental, vision, life, and retirement programs. Responsibilities also include processing and reconciling benefit premiums, invoices, and payroll deductions, managing COBRA administration and leave-of-absence benefit billing, and auditing benefit data to ensure accuracy. The position supports open enrollment, onboarding education, and ongoing employee communications. The role requires facilitating human resources information and processes to ensure appropriate and timely workflow and outcomes, potentially including benefits, employment, performance evaluation, workers compensation, and employee relations. The consultant will also maintain knowledge of regulatory standards impacting their work area and serve as a resource for project initiatives.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in applicable field or equivalent HR experience.
  • Minimum of two years HR or closely related experience.
  • Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc) and Windows operating system, with prior experience in HRIS systems.
  • Ability to effectively verbalize and write in order to explain or describe moderately complex information and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret and apply complex material such as regulatory standards, summary plan documents, compensation policy, employment regulations, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit questions and issue resolution
  • Present detailed benefits information during weekly new employee orientation sessions
  • Administer employee benefit plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations across medical, dental, vision, life, and retirement programs
  • Process and reconcile benefit premiums, invoices, and payroll deductions to ensure accuracy
  • Manage COBRA administration and leave-of-absence (LOA) benefit billing and follow-up
  • Audit benefit data and reports to identify discrepancies and maintain accurate records
  • Support open enrollment, onboarding education sessions, and ongoing employee communications
  • Facilitate timely completion of activities such as introductory and annual evaluations, licensure or CAP verifications, hours changes, terminations, etc. and ensures accurate data entry into HRIS system.
  • Facilitate recruitment and selection process including requisitions and postings, various pre-employment checks, job offers, new hire processing, internal transfers, sign-on bonuses, temporary labor, etc. to ensure a qualified workforce.
  • Facilitate employee benefits including enrollment, new hire processing, employee education, etc. and maintains positive relationship with third party administrators.
  • Provide assistance in areas such as employee relations, compensation, workers compensation, or other areas as directed by leadership.
  • Maintains knowledge of regulatory standards impacting designated work area and procedures.
  • Serves as a resource to assistants in project initiatives such as open enrollment, new hire processing and transfers, annual evaluations, policy changes, etc.
  • Identifies when additional resources, supplies, etc. may be warranted.
  • Prepares documents, reports, policies, correspondence, and other HR data on a daily basis to facilitate all current HR processes.
  • Uses Workday, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Team programs on a daily basis to complete assigned work.
